Department of History, Shree Ram College, Rampur offers Pass and Honours
teaching facilities in Degree Level. The Department has permanent government
concurrence and has permanent affiliation with Sambalpur University (Jyoti
Vihar) Odisha. In the undergraduate level it has enrollment strength of 16
nos. of seats each in +3 1st, 2nd, 3rd year
classes. Likewise, it has 192 seats in each of the pass classes.
Facualty Members

The
Department is full-fledged with four faculty members namely:-
1. Sri Sanjay Kumar Mishra, (Lecture) (M.A.)
2. Smt Sanjukta Dash, (Lecturer) (M.A.)
3. Ms. Ankita Sahu
4. Ms. Sujata Sahu
All of them have more than 25-30 years of teaching
experience and have specification in Ancient and Modern History.
Academic Activities(2013-14)
:-
1. The Department organised a seminar on the 13th of August 2013. While
Dr.Ashok Kumar Panda presided over the meeting, Dr.
K.N.Mishra, Reader in
History, Sonepur College, Sonepur as Resource person delivered a talk on
“Partition of Ancient India and its subsequent Unification.” The
honours
students and faculty members had interraction on the theme.
2. The Department organised a study Tour on the 14th
of November 2013 led by
the Principal and the HOD, the faculty members and the Honours students
visited historical places of the locality such as Papakshyaya Ghat,
Charda,
Sonepur, Metakani of Subarnapur district. They visited the temples of
Kapileswara Siva in Charda, Rameswara and other temples in Sonepur
and studied the temple architecture. They also observed the Kothichitra of
the
Kalasi Kothi Charda, sculptures of the Kapileswara, Chardei
and
Rameswara temples and had comparative study. The faculty members helped
and the guarded students in their on-the-spot study.
3. Sri Rameswar Naik, Reader in history and HOD
visited Janapurgarh a ruined
medieval fort-area near Binka on 25th of November and 2nd of December 2013
to
have a field study on the recent discovery of a ring well there. He posted
are port entitled, “Tarapurgarh Revisited” in the website Address
www.rampurantiquities.com
and also wrote an Odia feature which got
published in the Odia daily Prameya, Sambad & Samaj
Dt-12.12.2012.
4. The Departure organised a farewell meeting on
Dt.28.02.2014 to bid farewell to
the +3 Final year Honours students.
Academic Activities (2014-15) :-
1. A seminar-cum-welcome ceremony was organised by the Department on the 9th
of September 2014. The newly admitted students of +3 First year Honours
classes were welcomed to the Department. A seminar on “The Relevence of
History” was held under the presidentship of the Principal Dr.Ashok
Kumar
Panda, Sri Aswini Kumar Dash, Lecturer in History, Barpali College, Barpali
joined as invited guest. Students and faculty members spoke on the relevance
of studying history in the contemporary time.
2. A study tour was organised on the 16th of January
2015 in which the Honours
students went to Grindola in the District of Bargarh led by Sri Ramesh
Chandra
Sahu, Sri Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Smt. Sanjukta Dash and accompanied by
the Principal , they enjoyed the beauty of the scenic spot and studied the
sculpture and architecture of some old temples.
3. A farewell function was organised on the 16th of
February 2015 to bid farewell
to the +3 Final year Honours students. The meeting was chaired by the
Principal and regulated by the HOD Sri Rameswar Naik while the students’
interacted with each other the faculty members advised them to face
challenges
ahead boldly.

commemorative volume in honour of Late P.C.Rath was published in 2013 (Aug-
Sept).
2. Article by Sr Rameswar Naik, Reader and HOD
entitled, “ Folk Deities of West Odisha” was published in the “
Souvenir of the National Seminar on
Cultural Heritage of South Kushala” in 2013 (March).
3. Article in Odia by Sri Rameswar Naik, Reader and
HOD entitled, “Sonepura
Darabari Sahityare Rampura O’ Devi Chandalipat” (Rampur and
Goddess Chandalipat in the court literature of Sonepur) in Odia feature
magazine Divyashakti was published in 2013 (June).
4. Article in odia by Sri Rameswar Naik, Reader and
HOD entitled, “Tantra
Upasana: Eka Samajika Pratibada” (Tantric cult: A social protest) was
published in the Souvenir, 14th Balangir Loka Utsav-2013-14 in 2014
(February).

(on 14.12.2013) :-
A team from AIR-Balangir recorded an
interview in Odia with Sri Rameswar
Naik, Reader and HOD on the “Cultural Heritage of Rampur” and
“Puja
Dunguri” separately to be aired in a programme of Radio FM 101.9 band
Balangir.
